CONTENTMENT, HAPPINESS, SMALL THINGS
Zach 4 v 10
"Do not despise the day of small beginnings. For who has despised the day of small things? "
Everyone wants and loves the finished result. But in between start and finish, there is the work.
Too often we look at the wrong things to bring us peace, happiness, contentment. Advertising says, “Put on this aftershave and the prettiest of girls cannot resist you!” Life isn’t really like that. Anybody tried that aftershave? Some people even want to be somewhere else or worse with someone else, but you will be you , whether you are in Dubai or Browns Bay.
One of the greatest keys to contentment and happiness is not Get, but Give. Even Jesus, the Bible says, came to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. We can all give. A smile, a please, a thank-you. Things that don’t even cost you anything. You reap back a handshake, a good deed. Here is a great lesson - The less you think about yourself the happier you will be. Have a purpose for living, a cause greater than yourself. Happiness and contentment comes from serving others.
I think about Rebecca feeding the camels, opening the way to her destiny. The little boy with a couple of sandwiches being the vessel which thousands would be filled from. Faith and works; small things but huge reward!
John 13 vs 14
"If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
